The year 2023 was a particularly significant year for Sergei Rachmaninoff's legacy: the process of international celebrations of his 150th birthday touched even the Russian classic's most unplayed opuses. The Moskonzert has prepared its own large-scale project: the Rachmaninoff Gala is an evening of immersion in the jubilee composer's piano and chamber works.

On 15 November the Moskontsert Hall stage will be filled with distinguished artists of the Moskontsert: four pianists - Valentina Lisitsa, Peter Aidoo, Basinia Shulman and Evgeny Starodubtsev - will present Rachmaninoff's piano miniatures from almost every angle; cellist Oleg Bugaev and violinist Lena Semyonova will also perform on stage.

Each of the musicians will reveal to the audience their interpretation of not only the most performed but also little-known works by the composer. In a contemporary dialogue of sounds and readings, selected movements from the First Suite for two pianos, Cello Sonata, Elegiac Trio and, of course, Rachmaninoff's unforgettable transcriptions of his own and others' works will be performed.
